State Senators, CEOs join forces to improve biz climate
ANNAPOLIS, Md., Oct. 28, 2015 – To help streamline state procurement policy and give Maryland businesses wider participation therein, Governor Hogan has tapped the expertise of Maryland business advocate and entrepreneur Duane Carey.
Carey is President of Maryland Business for Responsive Government (MBRG), a statewide, nonpartisan organization that educates Maryland’s business and political communities and the public on matters relating to business and job growth.
For the next year, Carey will serve on the One Maryland Blue Ribbon Commission, working closely with Commission Chairman and Maryland Senator Justin Ready along with a bipartisan group of legislators, business leaders, civic leaders, and experts from each of Maryland’s Executive Departments.
“The Commission’s goal goes hand-in-hand with that of MBRG—to make Maryland a better place to do business,” said Carey, who is also President of IMPACT Marketing & Public Relations, based in Columbia, MD.
“Governor Hogan has committed to changing Maryland’s business climate for the better, and it’s an honor to work with him and the other business advocates on the team.”
The Commission will provide a preliminary report to the Governor and the General Assembly on December 31, 2015 and a final report in June 2016. The Commission’s first meeting is planned for mid-November in Annapolis, MD.
